The Professional Finish for Artificial Turf Installations

The Ultimate Frame for Your Synthetic Lawn

Southern California's water mandates have fundamentally changed how Riverside County homeowners think about their front and back yards. Artificial turf has gone from a novelty to one of the most requested upgrades in Temecula, Murrieta, and Menifee — and for good reason. But here's what most homeowners discover too late: the turf itself is only half the job.

The edge is what separates a lawn that looks professionally installed for decades from one that starts lifting, fraying, and collecting weeds within a few years. At Kwik Kerb by Guido, we've spent over 20 years perfecting the permanent concrete border that makes synthetic grass look and perform its best.

Why Your Artificial Turf Needs Concrete Curbing

1. A Permanent "Nailer" and Anchor

One of the biggest issues with turf is "edge lift." Standard plastic bender boards warp in the Menifee heat, causing the turf to pull away. Our concrete curbing provides a heavy, immovable surface to tuck and secure your turf edges against, preventing tripping hazards and fraying.

2. Protecting Your Base Layer

A great turf lawn relies on the "base" underneath it. Without a solid Landscape Curb, heavy rains in Lake Elsinore or Wildomar can wash out the crushed rock base from under the edges. Our 7-inch profile ensures your base material stays put, preventing "sinkholes" at the perimeter of your lawn.

3. The "Mower’s Edge" Aesthetic

Even though you aren't mowing your turf, you still want that golf-course look. Our Mower’s Edge profile creates a crisp, clean transition between your synthetic grass and your flower beds or rock gardens. It’s the finishing touch that makes neighbors in Winchester and French Valley ask if your grass is real.

4. Weed & Grass Barrier

The last thing you want is invasive "real" grass or weeds creeping under the edge of your expensive "fake" grass. Our permanent concrete edging acts as a root barrier, reducing the amount of maintenance around eliminating weeds around your turf.

Specialized Turf Edging for Every Project

  • Putting Greens: We recommend a flat border profile for backyard greens in Bonsall and Fallbrook, ensuring a professional look.

  • Pet Turf Zones: Durable curbing that stands up to heavy "zoomies" and play without shifting.

  • Modern Geometric Designs: While lines and circles are not guaranteed to be perfect, we will always attempt to create shapes to match the contemporary architecture found in Moreno Valley and Perris.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is concrete curbing better than plastic bender boards for turf?

Plastic bender boards warp and move over time, causing artificial turf edges to lift. Concrete curbing provides a heavy, immovable "frame" that allows for a tighter, more secure turf tuck and prevents base-layer migration.

Can you install curbing after my turf is already in?

Our preferred method is to install edging BEFORE the turf is laid. Contact us for more details regarding your specific situation.

How long after the curbing is poured can my turf installer start?

We recommend a minimum of 24–48 hours of cure time before turf installation begins, depending on weather conditions. In the summer heat of the Inland Empire, concrete cures faster — but we always confirm the green light with your installer before they begin work.

Do I need to tell my turf installer I'm getting concrete curbing first?

Yes, and it matters more than most people realize. Your turf installer needs to know the curbing will be in place so they can account for it in their measurements and edging technique. The good news is that most experienced local turf companies in the Temecula Valley are already familiar with this sequencing and will adjust their process accordingly.

Does the curbing help prevent weeds from growing in my turf?

One of the biggest benefits of a permanent lawn border is the root barrier. It significantly reduces the chance of invasive Bermuda grass or weeds creeping under the edge of your synthetic turf.

What curbing profile works best for a putting green vs. a play area vs. a pet zone?

For backyard putting greens, we typically recommend a flat mower's edge profile — it allows the turf to sit perfectly flush and gives that golf-course finish. For play areas, a slightly rounded or slant profile works well because it softens the edge for kids running near it. For pet zones, we recommend our full 7-inch profile because it provides the most resistance to digging along the perimeter and holds up to heavy activity without shifting.

The Inland Empire Heat Factor — What It Means for Your Turf Edge

Anyone who has walked across synthetic turf on a July afternoon in Menifee or Temecula knows it gets hot. Surface temperatures on artificial turf can reach well above 150°F on peak summer days. While the turf itself is designed to handle this, the edges are where heat stress tends to show up first — especially if those edges are held by plastic bender board that warps, contracts, and eventually releases.

Concrete doesn't warp. Our curbing maintains its shape and grip on the turf edge regardless of summer temperatures, which means the tuck stays tight and the edge stays flush year after year.

A bonus tip for managing turf heat along the edges: planting low-water, low-height succulents or ornamental grasses in the adjacent planter beds can create a slight shading effect along the perimeter during the hottest part of the day. Our curbing creates the perfect defined border to keep those plantings exactly where you want them without encroaching on the turf surface.
